Branding, is it really that important? YES! Just to show you how important branding can be, see if you can tell me the 3 brands the logos below represent.

I bet you got all 3 right, didn’t you?

(Facebook, Starbucks, McDonald’s)

We love branding and getting it right isn’t always easy! So what key points do you need to know before you think about branding?

Colour! Colour is everything! Choosing the colour for your brand is crucial to its success, branding has to purvey a message to everyone who sees it, so bare that in mind.

Different colours mean different things in branding. If we use the Visions Design logo as an example, we chose red & black for our brand as it shows we are bold and exciting! Having an all new website can be a bold but exciting move for any business and that’s the message we want to put across!

If you wanted to promote your brand as peaceful a good colour to start with is green. You can find a more in depth explanation of “the psychology of colour in branding” here.

Now it’s time to choose a font! The text element of our logo uses the typeface Helvetica. We chose this as it is widely used in our industry. This means that people associate Helvetica with web design. We also chose Helvetica as it’s bold and stands out, again making it memorable.

Lastly, we chose Helvetica as it has stood the test of time! It was first designed back in 1957 and is still popular to this day, being used worldwide in TV commercials production and even the signs on the NYC Subway system! (Don’t believe me? Have a read of this article about Helvetica and the NYC Subways system).

So you’ve decided on your branding what now? It’s important to get your branding noticed by your clients and customers.

If you look through our latest Instagram posts you will often see us including our logo (our branding). That’s because we know how important branding is. It’s easy to promote your brand online by shoving it in everyone’s face but nobody likes that! (This can have a negative effect on your brand). But how do you do it discreetly?

When we post a photo whether it be a word of the day or a picture of our mascot Jack the Visions duck on social media we are subtly reinforcing our brand to our followers by featuring our logo!

If you aren’t sure how to add your branding to a post without detracting from the post itself, try adding a business card to the background. You can see from our post below we were thanking a client for sending us some goodies to try, however, do you notice the small business card that just happens to be in the background? You may not at first be drawn straight to the branding but I bet you noticed it!

So now you know just what goes into branding! It may sound a little complex and scary but just remember to be bold and excitement will follow!
